We call the components likely to fail first the "weak links". This means that after years of servicing laptops and doing extensive research we know what components are likely to go bad first. Once we fix a laptop's motherboard, and see a few more coming in with exactly the same problem, it is fairly easy to diagnose the problem, and fix the laptop motherboard. Some models seem to have the same component failing quite often, and knowing where to look for the problem saves time and our customers money.
